The Third International Symposium on Stochastic Models in Reliability Engineering, Life Sciences and Operations Management (SMRLO’19) is one of the most influential academic conferences on stochastic modeling and methods. The conference was initiated by several Israeli professors. It was first held in Beer Sheva, Israel, on February 15-17, 2005, named as “International Symposium on Stochastic Models in Reliability, Safety, Security and Logistics”. The conference was later renamed in 2010 as “The First International Symposium on Stochastic Models in Reliability Engineering, Life Sciences and Operations Management” and held in Beer Sheva, Israel, on February 8-11, 2010. The second symposium was held in Beer Sheva, Israel, on February 15-18, 2016. A total of 200 scholars from Israel, the United States, Canada, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Russia, Japan, Korea, Norway, Greece, France, Australia, Germany, Sweden and China attended the conference, including 8 Chinese scholars from Zhejiang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Changsha University of Science and Technology. This symposium will constitute a forum for discussing different issues of Stochastic Models in Reliability Engineering, Life Science and Operations Management with respect to their applications. The symposium objective is to assemble researchers and practitioners from universities, institutions and industries from around the world, involved in these fields, and to encourage mutual exchange. Common methods and models will be considered from a general point of view; theoretical modeling, computational and case studies will range from academic considerations to industrial approaches, as well as emphasizing topics on cooperation between industries and research institutions. The cooperation that will contribute to the advancement of research and solutions to engineering issues is of utmost importance.
